This year, the play is ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The play is a timeless classic with several notable characters like Alice, the Queen of Hearts and The Mad Hatter. Jodi is directing the play and hopefully the play turns out even better than Honk (last year’s play). Year 5, and several other Year 6 cast members are in the choir, and the songs in the performance are varied and cheerful with songs like: I’m late, The Walrus and the Carpenter and The March of the Cards.

Every year, Year 6 does a play on classic stories like Honk and Grease. These projects take about two months to prepare for, and around a week to do the performing for the school. During practise, the performers would study the lines and try to remember them for the big day. Not only are there actors, but there are several other backstage roles that are a key part of performance; such as: the director, co-director, wardrobe, props and lighting.

Alice in Wonderland

Today saw the start of our Phase 3 performance – Alice in Wonderland. The children had discovered the play on Friday and were given options for roles they were interested in.

They went away over the weekend and practised delivering various lines.

Here are some photographs from this morning’s auditions.
